Ways To Get Rid of Unwanted Facial Hair At Home
- Causes:
Now there are many causes for hair growth on faces in females. One of the most common is higher level of hormones in females as compared to males.
- Hormonal Imbalance:
The male hormones are known as androgen, most common of which are known as testosterone; which is responsible for the development of sperm, facial hair and heavy voice. This happens at the age of puberty. Now, a female body has its own hormones but it produces testosterone too but in a much less quantity than that of males. When the level of this testosterone increases more than required, it causes disturbance in your menstrual cycle and produces an excess of facial and body hair.
For women who have already had their menopause, the hormonal imbalance can result from the menopause itself causing the growth of facial hair.
- Other Causes May be:
Their are always more than one reason to any problem. This case is no different. There can be other causes affecting and causing the growth of facial hair.
- medicines, such as minoxidil which is taken for high blood pressure
- congenital adrenal hyperplasia - a hereditary condition which affects the adrenal glands (which produce sex hormones)
- Cushing’s Syndrome or Acromegaly - rare hormonal disorders
- being overweight or obese
- an ovarian tumour
- Clinical Treatments:
There are various clinical treatments that can help you get rid of facial hair but remember, they are costly and somewhat painful. They are effective for a time period but even after that you will start noticing the re-growth of facial hair and you'll have to go back for that treatment. Some of the treatments are:
- Electrolysis - electricity is used to destroy hair cells and remove hair permanently. This may take many treatments over a long time, and can be painful and change your skin colour.
- Laser hair removal - powerful beams of light are used to destroy hair. It can last several months.
- Some types of the contraceptive pill
- Other Techniques:
There are other techniques present than going for electrolysis, laser or contraceptives but again, these are some of the techniques that will not get you rid of your problem and in short you'll have to do them back and forth and well, let's be honest, this is tiring. Some of the other techniques are:
shaving - this is quick and easy, but you may have to shave every day, and there may be unpleasant stubble in between shaves
- Waxing - this is effective if done regularly, but may be painful and cause redness
- Bleaching - this can make dark hair less noticeable in the short term
- Hair removal creams - Vaniqa, is a cream which reduces hair growth by acting on enzymes in the hair follicle. It can provide a more long-term solution to excess facial hair growth than shaving, waxing or bleaching.
- Home Remedies:
Now for clinical treatment, there is always a second treatment present to it also known as the HOME REMEDIES.
